The Witmer craftsmen, trained in the age old art of furniture making, put their hard work and talent into every piece of furniture with the Witmer name. Built in Central Wisconsin, every piece of furniture is made to order. That means you can choose not only the style and the hardware, but the wood species and color as well. Your choice of woods include, but are not limited to Oak, Birch, Cherry, Poplar, and Alder. Witmers uses only the finest natural materials to construct furniture the way it should be built. By using the highest grades of lumber and the best hardware available, you are guaranteed a quality piece of furniture.

Witmers goes to great lengths to ensure the continued quality of their product. For example, all incoming lumber is tested for moisture content. This is to insure against warping, (wood is too wet), and cracking, (wood is too dry). The wood is also graded for color to assure a consistent and acceptable range. When using materials other than solid lumber, Witmers doesn't waver from their philosophy of quality furniture made from quality materials. No particle board is used in our products. When an engineered wood is required, Medium Density Fiberboard is used. Commonly referred to as MDF, this wood is used for the sides on some of our larger cases. MDF is flat, smooth, uniform, dense, free of knots, and resistant to warping.

In addition to the materials used, Witmers incorporates age old techniques into the manufacturing process. For example, Witmer cases feature English dovetail construction. That means, both the front and back are dovetailed, (All four corners!). Also, each case comes with either center mount wood glides, or the popular side mounted Euro-Glide.

Finally, each piece is finished with a 10 step catalyzed lacquer finish. This is the strongest finish available in the marketplace. It is resistant to heat, water, UV light, scratching and even finger nail polish remover. While most manufacturers spray the catalyzed lacquer finish only on dining furniture, Witmers applies it to all the products they build! After finishing, each piece is inspected and hand polished before delivery.
