Our design inspiration comes from many creative sources,
including our dealers suggestions. The dealers are in contact
with the retail public and know what people are looking for.
We take their advice and their ideas and try to come up with a piece
that is not only attractive but also built well. We have always
taken pride in the fact that we maintain close relationships with
the people that sell our product. The owners are available on a
regular basis to consult with.
Currently, Witmer uses the following
woods in our furniture: Oak, Cherry, Birch, Alder, Pine, Poplar, Aspen
and Cedar. Every piece goes through a 10 step finishing process. In addition,
some pieces are "distressed" to give them a unique appearance. All Witmer
products are finished with a catalyzed lacquer, which is resistant to
water, fingernail polish remover, heat, scratching, alcohol, common household
detergents and UV light. Proper care consists of cleaning and polishing
the piece with a quality liquid or paste wax polish, which will help provide
better protection from dust and smudges. Anyone who purchases a piece
of Witmer furniture must remember that handcrafted pieces display a work
of art, as each Witmer craftsman labors to express the excellence of his
or her skills. This gives each piece a nostalgic character produced only
by the unique variations and slight imperfections of the slight of hand.
